The End of A Tyrannical Monarchy



After 240 years of ruthless, tyrannical, meglomaniacal, anti-republian and unconstitutional rule of the ill-called world's only 'Hindu Kingdom', the monarchy of Nepal decided to call it a day on wednesday, 11th July 2008. With all there extra constitutional rights stripped off, the erstwhile King of Nepal, 'Mr Gyanendra' and his family moved out of their Narayanhiti Palace situated in the heart of Kathmandu, later on wednesday evening.



Swayed by a large "Long live the republic" chanting crowd of people from across the sections of Nepalese populace, the former king made, if anything, a quiet exit from the palace. The palace, along with its property, including the crown and the specter of the former king has now been confiscated by the people's governement of Nepal. This is certainly a moment of deja-vu in the history of the himalayan country. This indeed can be marked as a victory of the common people against the rich and the exploitative classes of the 21st century world.
