"Can the flap of butterfly's wing in Brazil trigger a tornado in Texas?"

It's with extreme sadness that engulfs me, that I am writing this post. Today on 18th of April 2008, I learned from newspapers that Edward Lorentz, the great meteorologist, who devised the famous chaos theory has passed away at the age of 90. Lorentz used what would later be known as the "Butterfly Effect" to explain the weather patterns and substantiate the chaos theory.

Chaos Theory is a mathematical sub-discipline that studies complex systems. Examples of these complex systems that Chaos Theory helped fathom are earth's weather system, the behavior of water boiling on a stove, migratory patterns of birds, or the spread of vegetation across a continent. Chaos is everywhere, from nature's most intimate considerations to art of any kind
He is truly one of the great scientific minds that we in our generation has come across. He has taught us that there is chaos even in an orderly life, and order even in a chaotic life. Goodbye to you Sir Lorentz...we've learned a lot from you, and will miss you.
